Pork byproducts
Rendered fats and other pork co-products carry the measured performance of the hogs they came from. As with beef, the verified Tier 3 performance at origin attaches to the byproduct through mass balance and becomes a Carbon Inventory Certificate a buyer can retire.

Where it lands
Scope 3, Category 1
01 · The path
Same rail, pork supply.
Origin · Hogs at source
Tier 3 measurement of the source herd — intensity and vintage recorded.
Transform · Processor & renderer
Mass balance carries performance across processing into the co-product.
Settle · Byproduct buyer
Retires the certificate into Scope 3, Category 1 against a specific purchase.
02 · Getting started
How a buyer attaches a CIC this cycle.
01 — Bring a byproduct purchase line.
Start with pork co-product volume you already source from a known processor.
02 — We map the supply shed.
The byproduct is traced back to the source herds whose performance is measured.
03 — Issue against verified performance.
Tier 3 data generates certificates with evidence, intensity, and vintage attached.
04 — Retire into your inventory.
The reduction settles in Scope 3, Category 1 — single-use, no double count.
Frequently asked
Pork byproducts, answered.
Does the pork pathway work the same as beef?
Yes. The instrument, the mass-balance custody model, and the registry are commodity-agnostic. Only the source measurement and the supply shed differ.
Can a processor participate directly?
Yes. Processors contribute custody: they record the transformation and allocation as the herd becomes co-product, which is what lets the buyer downstream inherit an audit-ready claim.
What supply is enrolled?
Enrolled supply sheds and issued certificates for pork byproducts are shown live in the public registry. Specific volumes for a given buyer are scoped during onboarding.
